Hi! My name is Alyssa.

I knew I loved horses and wanted to learn how to ride when I saw my neighbors horses grazing in our marsh in Morehead City, NC.  I started taking riding lessons when I was 7 years old. I learned from our neighbor Kimberly Reece at Eterna Riverview Stables. They had several well trained hunter/jumper Arabians. In elementary school, I would go ride with her younger sister Tiffany Reece almost every day after school.

I started taking lessons from Wendy Spatz at Acha's Stables in Newport, NC when I was about 10 years old. I got my first horse Autumn, a Quarter Horse/Arabian, when I was 11.  Autumn was very spirited and learning to work with her taught me a lot.  The skills I learned with her allowed me help in working with other unfinished horses.  In high school I rode almost every afternoon for Kimberly Reece again. I can't thank her enough, she truly taught me how to be a great rider and horse owner.

I went to St. Andrews Presbyterian College (now St. Andrews University) in Laurinburg, NC and received a BA Degree in Equine Business in 2008. I took hunter jumper riding lessons with school horses and I worked at the barns taking care of the horses.  A few days a week I would ride at Carolina Horse Farm in Raeford, NC.  During summer breaks, I went to work with some of our college horses at Camp Seafarer in Arapahoe, NC.  I helped take care of the horses and taught lessons.

Before graduating I interned with Matt Gable and his wife at Gable Horsemanship in Mooresville, NC. There I learned how to start young horses using John Lyons horse training methods.

I've work as a barn manager and exercise rider for race horses in VA.

I use what I've learned to start young horses, retrain older horses, teach riding lessons, and teach others about natural horsemanship.

I currently dispatch for 911 Emergency services in Fayetteville. In my free time I ride and train my horses and teach lessons at my place in Dunn, NC as well as travel out.
